The formula

weight elsewhere = mass × g of that body

Mass travels, weight does not

Your mass is how much of you there is, and it is identical everywhere in the universe. Weight is the force gravity exerts on that mass, so it changes with wherever you happen to be standing. A bathroom scale measures force but is calibrated to report the mass that force implies on Earth, which is why taking one to Mars would make it lie.

Two results here are more surprising than the headline. Saturn is the largest planet after Jupiter yet its surface gravity is barely above Earth's, because it is so diffuse — less dense than water. And Mars and Mercury have almost identical surface gravity despite Mars being nearly twice the diameter, because Mercury is far denser.

"Surface" needs care for the gas giants, which have no surface: the quoted figures are at the level where atmospheric pressure equals one bar. The Sun's figure is at the photosphere.
