How many calories do you need?

Your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is your BMR (basal metabolic rate, from the Mifflin-St Jeor equation) multiplied by an activity factor. Eating at your TDEE maintains your weight; a deficit of roughly 500 calories per day corresponds to losing about one pound (0.45 kg) per week.

These are estimates for healthy adults. For a nutrition plan tailored to you, consult a registered dietitian or doctor.
